Brian Adler was born in the Chicago area, got his first guitar when he was 3 years old and began his formal musical training at age 6, growing up the youngest in a musical family. He started performing professionally at age 12 as a guitarist and singer and began creating original music. In college, he majored in composition and performance .
After formal studies, Brian began working as a live performer and as a session singer , musician , arranger and producer. That led to his involvement in writing music for advertising and composed music for many national spots. Brian was mentored by jingle legend Dick Marx, the father of Richard Marx. Another mentor was jazz great Joe Daly, a saxophonist who worked on numerous occasions with the likes of Miles Davis and taught sax luminaries David Sanborn and Michael Brecker. Brian performed throughout metro Chicago with his own band and was also the singer/guitarist in a group led by Cheap Trick drummer, Bun E. Carlos, whenever Cheap Trick was not touring.
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member, Blondie bassist turned record executive Nigel Harrison saw Brian perform while visiting Chicago and was instrumental in getting Brian signed to a Record and Publishing deal which led to his relocation to Los Angeles.
Brian's musical creations total well into the thousands ranging from small ensemble to full orchestral scores for over 20 films and TV shows as well as hundreds of songs covering a wide variety of genres.
Recording artists, songwriters and producers who have recorded or performed Brian's music or utilized his talents include: David Foster, Desmond Child, Sting, David Hartley, Stephen Bruton (Crazy Heart), Paul Shaffer, Robin Zander, Chynna Phillips, Southside Johnny, Fee Waybill, Glenn Ballard, Ron Aniello, Chris Lord Alge, Shelly Berg, Jerry Goodman, CJ Vanston, Foghat and R&B legends Sam Moore and Junior Walker, who performed a Brian Adler song on David Letterman.
